Next Stop: Toddlerville

Eli's physical therapy sessions involve cruising at the train table. I'm supposed to encourage him as much as possible until he can do it on his own. This is the first time I was able to walk away long enough to grab the camera. He must be feeling confident if he can smile at the camera. He actually played independently for quite awhile because I had to go into the other room and mediate a conflict. Imagine that.

He has taken an interest in this riding toy. Although he only pushes to go backward and lately he likes to prop his feet up next to the steering wheel.

The event I have avoided for weeks: the first haircut. This one is a milestone for me because inevitably when the hair gets shorter they don't seem like babies anymore. Eli seems like a baby because he doesn't cruise or walk independently yet. We sort of enjoyed an extended baby phase with him. However, the first haircut (and the frequent tantrums) indicates that we have arrived in toddlerville.

He is so eager to do what his brothers do. Lately we have filled the water table in the afternoons and played with squirt guns. Eli tries and tries to figure out how this particular water gun works.

Just hours after his haircut, he looks like a completely different child here. I think the baby phase is defnitely behind us.

A Big Heap of Man Time

Steve promised the boys a camping trip when he returned from China. The weather was terrible but the boys eagerly piled in the car and tried a new camp site.
The thunder and lightning was extremely loud, I waited up for them to come back home. I fell asleep around midnight, convinced they would come in the wee hours of the morning. They arrived about noon, worn out and tired but thrilled with their outing. Apparently thunder and lightning doesn't slow them down a bit.

The weather forecast called for more storms this weekend, but they were not deterred. Steve came home from work after lunch on Friday and they returned to their favorite camp site from last fall. It's only about 20 minutes away but near a beautiful lake and they just love it. I just love this picture. I can't believe they are actually hugging and smiling.

More hugging and smiling. This is amazing!

I'm told it isn't 'man time' unless their is a fire involved. That's one crispy marshmallow. I'm so thrilled the boys are willing to camp with their dad. The great outdoors is a fantastic place for these little fellas to enjoy and explore.

Happy Mother's Day To Me

It just so happens that I was able to stretch mother's day out a bit and started the festivities on Thursday. I hired a babysitter for the other boys and went to "tea" at Andy's preschool. They sang a couple of sweet little songs...

...gave us paper daisies and then carefully served each of us a tray of delicious goodies with a glass of sweet tea. We also listened to each child's survey about his or her mama. The teachers had asked each child a series of questions and wrote down the answers. According to Andy, I am 6, my eyes are yellow, my favorite place to eat is McDonald's and he knows I love him because we do arts and crafts. What a riot!

Andy was eager to go to lunch and couldn't be bothered with smiling but this ended up being a great picture because that is such a typical Andy expression.

Steve was kind enough to wrangle the children quite a bit this weekend so I could relax and enjoy some scrapbooking time. I wasn't very productive but it certainly was fun. I realized while I was looking at all of my pictures that I rarely take any of me with my children. So we posed quickly this morning on our way out the door to church. It isn't our best shot, but Eli sure is adorable. I'm blessed to have such a fantastic family. It's good to be loved.
